Edition 2019
Il 2019 represents a very important moment for the Dolci Accenti association as it presents the birth of the first International Festival of ancient music "Note senza tempo" in the city of Sassari.
Thanks to the precious contribution of the Sardinia Foundation, of some sponsors and to the sensitivity of the institutions, a concert season dedicated to ancient music, which includes seven concerts and a masterclass and the participation of around eighty artists, will fill a cultural void present in the Sardinian territory, especially Sassari. The protagonists will be great musicians of international fame, but also young local talents who are taking their first steps towards professional concert activity. The international scope of the event will give, outside the Italian borders, a representation of Sardinia that reflects its cultural and architectural aspects, rather than the beauty of its coasts for which it is already known and appreciated.
In the inaugural concert, the sounds of Antonio Perti from Bologna, by Arcangelo Corelli, of Milan Sammartini and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, will resonate thanks to two Cagliari ensembles: the choral Study of the Song, directed by Stefania Pineider and the instrumental one by Bizzarria ensemble, of the ancient music department of the Cagliari conservatory, directed by violinist Attilio Motzo. A special occasion in which the CD of the mass will be presented 5 Perti's voices that we will listen to in concert.
Four baroque cellos, which constitute the NOP Baroque ensemble of Vicenza, Instead, will propose a complex program divided into four Complexes. Almost synesthetic musical suggestions on four of the characteristics of the human temperament, as they were interpreted and described in Cesare Ripa's 1600 essay Iconologia. Stefania Cavedon, Daniel Cernuto, Anna Grendene and Massimiliano Varusio, they will represent the Sanguine, the Choleric, the Phlegmatic and the Melancholic.
Juvenilia ensemble will allow us to enjoy the freshness of an orchestral ensemble of young talents who undertake their studies at the Liceo Musicale D.A.. Azuni of Sassari, coordinated and directed by Alessio Manca and Gioele Lumbau. The musical program inspired by Venice could only rely on the melodies and harmonies of Antonio Vivaldi. The four concerts scheduled are pillars of Vivaldi's immense production and will be, Indeed, solo ones for flute (The goldfinch), for two violins and strings, and for mandolin and strings (performed in this case with the guitar).
But not just music! As usual, our attention is also and above all directed towards young people and their professional training. The Romanian harpsichordist Cipriana Smarandescu held for the students of the D.A. Musical High School. Azuni and the Sassari Conservatory, a two-day masterclass for a first approach to the harpsichord and ancient performance practice. The concert “Non solo Bach” will be narrated by Andrea Riderelli, composer and conductor, which will lead us to listen to Bach's songs interpreted by Maestro Smarandescu.
Il Sassari University Choir directed by Laura Lambroni will take from the graduals some Gregorian chants and music taken from the Cortona laudarium. Motets by Ciconia dubat and Praetorius will be performed.
Another institutional collaboration will see our ensemble Sweet Accents together with the two State Conservatories of the island: il “L. Hemp" of Sassari and the early music department of the conservatory “G.P. from Palestrina" of Cagliari, coordinated by violinist Attilio Motzo, with the special participation of the Nuoro Vocal Ensemble directed by Franca Floris.
In the concert of Festa Rustica ensemble, Giorgio Matteoli and Luca Ambrosio will propose transcriptions for recorder of music by J.S. Bach. “A tasty dessert for Mr. Bach”, he will see choral fantasies, fugues and sonatas, enhanced by the sound of the recorder accompanied by the harpsichord, and will conclude this first International Festival of Ancient Music.
Another novelty will be that relating to theater programs which will not be distributed or even printed in full respect of nature. Being now in the digital age, we thought we would publish the booklet online with all the information relating to the concerts (curriculum, photos and programs of the artists). You will be, Therefore, invited to download a QR CODE reader, through which it will be possible to browse our program from the comfort of our smartphone.
Our thanks go to our very young team without whom nothing would have been possible!
Daniel Cernuto, artistic director of the Dolci Accenti association
